Anna's Story

Every Thursday, someone from the Vesper team spends the afternoon meeting people sleeping rough in the city, and where we can, replacing worn or thin clothing with something warm and new from our own rails.

This week we met Anna, who has been sleeping near St Peter's Square for the past few months. She told us the thing she missed most going into autumn wasn't a bed — it was a coat that actually kept the cold out.

We sat with her for a while, talked about what she needed, and picked out a wool coat, a few layers, and a pair of proper boots in her size. Small things, but she said it was the first new clothing she'd had in over a year.

This is the first post in what we hope becomes a weekly habit rather than a one-off gesture — a small, honest record of who we met and what we were able to give, one Thursday at a time.
